Holly Glen Brings Bullying Prevention to Life During Spirit Week

The auditorium filled with cheers as Ken the Magician pulled a rabbit from his hat!

Between the surprise appearance of a dove, students eagerly volunteering onstage, and plenty of laughter and amazed faces, Holly Glen Elementary students never knew what might happen next.

But between the tricks, Ken had something important to share.

As part of School Violence Awareness Week, Holly Glen's third- and fourth-grade students enjoyed an interactive magic show that brought important conversations about bullying to life. Through hands-on demonstrations and discussions, Ken helped students understand what bullying looks like, how it feels to experience it, and how they can make a difference when someone is being treated unkindly.

Ken also spoke about his own experiences with bullying and how those memories have stayed with him over the years. His story helped students understand that words and actions can have a lasting impact, and why it's so important to treat others with kindness and respect.

Holly Glen's Spirit Week activities also included Color Our School With Kindness Day! Each grade level and staff group was assigned a color to wear, with students and staff showing their school spirit throughout the building.

A special thank-you to Holly Glen's HIB Specialist, Demi Henderson, and the entire counseling department for the thought and care they put into planning these activities. We're also grateful to Ken the Magician for sharing his story and to the Holly Glen staff for helping make the day possible.

As School Violence Awareness Week continues across Monroe Township Public Schools, Ken's story is one worth sharing with families throughout our district. The magic tricks may be what students remember first, but we hope his message about how we treat one another stays with them just as long.
